What is data export and transfer?
If you are looking to get the data off your mobile phone you can often run into errors or if your device is damaged it may seem impossible. We have the tools, software and experience to get your data exported from most phones and safely onto a USB memory stick.
If you are replacing your phone you will want to get your data transfer from your old phone to the new one. We can assist with that for iPhone, iPad and Samsung phones including transferring your photos, contacts and more.
Data Services FAQ
Can you transfer my data to my new phone?
Yes, we can assist in transferring the data from your old device to your new phone. This can include your photos, contacts, apps and other data.
Can you export my message history?
We can export SMS conversations from Android devices. iPhones we are not yet able to export from the device.
Do I need to supply a hard drive for my export?
No, our pricing includes a 32GB USB memory stick for exporting your data. This will be given to you and does not need to be returned. If there is more the 32GB of data there may be an additional charge for large memory sticks.
Can you restore my phone back to factory settings after transferring it?
Yes, talk to our team when dropping off your device to get it restored after the transfer. Please note an additional charge may apply for this service.
Do I need to make an appointment?
There is no need to make a booking. Just pop in during out open hours and allow 2 hours for your repair. You can wait in-store, visit one our the many local cafes in New Brighton or pop back once its ready to collect. Check out our opening hours.
Can I pay with Buy Now, Pay Later like Afterpay?
Yes, we are happy to offer Afterpay, Laybuy and Genoapay for purchases/repairs over $50.
Do you accept EFTPOS?
Yes, we accept EFTPOS and Credit Cards. Please note credit cards incur a surcharge.
Why do you need my passcode?
We need it to test new parts to ensure they are working by giving the device back to you. We do this, so you don’t have to come back if a component in your repair is faulty such as a speaker. For security reasons all iPhone’s require a passcode to be entered before any function of the device can be used. With iOS 11 this includes charging an iPhone after an hour.
Does my repair come with a warranty?

Can I mail-in my device for repair?
Yes, we accept mail-in devices for repair. You can learn more about it here.
Will my broken parts be recycled?
Mobile phone parts can contain harmful and dangerous materials as well as many reusable materials such as metals and glass. We use local recyclers to ensure materials from phone batteries, mobile screens and electronic devices are repurposed and hazardous materials disposed of properly.

Due to limitation in the operating system and security settings we are unable to export, transfer or backup the following data:
- Touch ID, Face ID, Passcodes or passwords
- Content synced from iTunes.
- Data stored in other cloud services.
- Apple Pay settings.
- Apple Watch connections
Applications with login will require you to login again on any new device.
Data from/within 3rd party apps may not be transferable or recoverable.
A phone will need to power on and the display be capable of interaction or otherwise be repaired to the point the phone can power on and the display can be interacted with for any data services.
Phone Repair NZ cannot guarantee that 100% of your data will be exported, backed up, transfer or otherwise recovered.
Pricing may change if additional parts, repairs or services are required to get the device into a state where the data can be recovered and/or exported.
Restore price does not include any repairs or additional services that might be required to get the device into a state where it can be restored. If the error is or the device is unable to be restored due to a hardware fault with the device any costs to repair that is not included within the restore price.
